Tammy Dellinger, left, and her friend, Marylisa Lichens, “yarn bombed” trees in the park beside the Strasburg Fire Department this week. Dellinger wanted to do the public art fiber project and had settled on decorating Strasburg trees with snowflakes just before the Sandy Hook school massacre. When they learned about the Connecticut Parent Teacher Student Association’s appeal for snowflakes to create a “winter wonderland” at the students’ new school, Dellinger and Lichens crocheted 26 green and white snowflakes — in Sandy Hook’s colors — to send to Newtown. According to www.ctpta.org, snowflakes can be sent by Jan. 12 to Connecticut PTSA, 60 Connolly Parkway, Building 12, Suite 103, Hamden, CT 06514. Sally Voth/Daily
