The Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors chose its leadership at their organizational meeting Thursday. Supervisors Conrad Helsley and Dennis Morris retain their positions as chairman and vice chairman, respectively.
The board voted unanimously for Helsley. Supervisors appeared divided as to who should lead the board. Supervisors David Ferguson, Richard "Dick" Neese and Helsley voted for Morris. Supervisors Steven Baker and Sharon Baroncelli voted for Baroncelli to serve as vice chair. Morris abstained from the voting.
Also at the meeting the board voted to approve a schedule of meetings for the year, as well as tentative dates and times for work on the fiscal 2014 budget.
However supervisors voted 4-2 to approve a list of county holidays for the next year. Helsley and Neese voted against the motion to approve the holiday calendar.
