Daily Staff Report
An open house for the Toms Brook School Apartments is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The free open house will showcase the rehabilitation of the old Toms Brook School at 3235 Main St. into 14 affordable rental housing units. No RSVP is required to attend.
Guests in need of special accommodations or who have questions can contact M. Tyler Klein, community development planner at the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission, at 636-8800 or at tklein@NSVregion.org.
People Inc., Toms Brook and Shenandoah County have worked together on the project with the NSVRC. The commission also is asking residents, former teachers or students or other community members to loan or donate any educational, sports or community-related artifacts from the old school for the open house or to share stories about the school for possible inclusion into a documentary film on the school and project. Those interested can contact NSVRC staff at the number and address provided. Artifacts will be returned to the owner in original condition after the open house if desired.
