A fire Thursday night destroyed a remote one-story vacation cabin off of Headley Road in Toms Brook.
John Collins, public information officer for the Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue, said two people, a male and female vacationer, were uninjured in the fire.
In an email message, Collins said firefighters "found the entire cabin in flames" after they were sent to the scene at about 9:15 p.m. Firefighters struggled with live power lines that came down during the fire, Collins said.
They were also forced to truck water to the scene and refill from the North Folk of the Shenandoah River. They brought the fire under control before it could spread to a neighboring cabin a few feet away, he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Collins said.
Firefighters and rescue personnel from Toms Brook, Woodstock, Strasburg and Shenandoah County responded to the scene, and some units stayed until midnight, Collins said.
