Daily staff report
Cynthia M. "Cindy" Bailey announced Monday she plans to run for election to the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors in November.
Bailey seeks to represent the Woodstock Magisterial District and intends to run as a "Reagan Constitutional Conservative," the town resident stated in a press release.
Bailey could face current District 4 Supervisor Sharon Baroncelli, whose first four-year term ends this December, should Baroncelli seek re-election.
The county native has been a vocal opponent of the board and county funding of large capital projects, particularly the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail, the rehabilitation of the old Edinburg School and the construction of the new general district courthouse.
Bailey worked for the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office as a captain. In that position she lead the jail and court security divisions, supervised a staff of 27 employees and held budget responsibilities, according to the release.
