Linden man charged with attempted murder of wife

By Joe Beck

A Linden man accused by law enforcement officials of stabbing his wife nearly to death was indicted Monday in Warren County Circuit Court on attempted first degree murder.

Ricky Brian Henry, 32, of 90 Rambo Court, was also charged with aggravated malicious wounding and stabbing.

Henry appeared in court in an orange jump suit from the Warren County Jail where he is being held without bail.

The criminal complaint against Henry states that witnesses told investigators from the Sheriff's Office that they saw Henry stabbing Lakisha Henry several times before they were able to restrain him at the side of a road leading up to the Apple Mountain subdivision just off of Interstate 66.

Lakisha Henry receiving life-threatening wounds that required her to be airlifted by helicopter to a hospital, according to the complaint.

The complaint also states she was "seen running from the accused, screaming for help. The accused pursued her until he caught her, and then stabbed her repeatedly."

Henry also faces a charge of violating the terms of a probation sentence he was serving for drug charges at the time he is alleged to have stabbed his wife. He was participating in a work release and electronic home monitoring program at the time of the stabbing on Aug. 14.

Law enforcement officials have credited the intervention of several bystanders with saving Lakisha Henry from further serious injury or death. Law enforcement officials and witnesses have described a bloody melee in which several men held down Ricky Henry while others attended to his injured wife before sheriff's deputies and paramedics reached the scene.

One witness said another man kicked a knife with a 3- or 4-inch blade away from Henry to keep him from reaching it during the struggle to subdue him.

Circuit Judge Dennis L. Hupp scheduled Henry's next court appearance for 9 a.m. April 1.
