Public meetings Feb. 25-March 1By Alex Bridges The following public meetings are scheduled this week: Shenandoah County The Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The board plans to consider a request to appropriate money for school security upgrades and later shall discuss with the sheriff school safety for the remainder of the year. The board will hold special presentations for retirements, Eagle Scout awards and the Shenandoah Forum. Supervisors will consider a resolution of endorsement for the Shenandoah County Economic Development Strategic Plan. The board also will consider a special-use permit requested by Laura Hockman to operate a home-based beauty salon at 339 Cedar Spring Lane, Strasburg, with conditions. Strasburg
Town Council's Public Safety and Recreation Committee meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the Strasburg fire siren. Woodstock The Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The commission plans to discuss a proposed amendment to town code pertaining to off-street parking that would reduce the number of required spaces for retail stores, certain types of restaurants and office or personal service establishments. Warren County The Development Review Committee meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Government Center caucus room. The committee plans to hear updates on projects such as a hiker hostel on Remount Road, a boarding kennel on Menefee Lane, a maintenance building for Rappahannock Electric Cooperative on Kelley Drive, the Front Royal Christian School on Strasburg Road, and upgrades to the existing Virginia Hills Church on Rockland Road. The panel also plans to hear updates on proposals for an REC power line, a coffee roaster on High Street, the expansion of the Jelly Belly store on Main Street, a plumbing business on South Royal Avenue, rehabilitation of a building on Main Street by the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission, and a thrift store on Main Street. Panel members also will hear an update on Baked Bagels and More on Main Street. The Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail Authority board's transition committee meets at 1 p.m. Thursday in the caucus room of the government center. The full authority board convenes at 2 p.m. Thursday. Front Royal Town Council meets at 7 p.m Monday. Council plans to consider on second readings ordinances to amend the town code pertaining to fence height and safety and to an exemption for sign re-facing. Council will hear reports and approve several proclamations. Frederick County The School Board will hold a work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Board of Supervisors will hold a work session at 5 p.m. Wednesday to discuss revenue recovery or fee for ambulance service. The board plans to hold a work session the fiscal 2014 budget at 6 p.m. followed by its regular meeting at 7 p.m. The Conservation Easement Authority meets at 8 a.m. Thursday in the first-floor conference room of the county Government Center, 107 N. Kent St., Winchester. The authority plans to hear updates on conservation easement activity and the business development advancement study. The Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
