Winchester adds assistant city manager

Winchester has a new assistant city manager.
City Manager Dale Iman announced in a press release Monday that Douglas Hewett will assume the role of assistant city manager. Hewett comes to Winchester after having worked as city manager for Hollywood, Fla., from February to June 2012. Hewett begins his new role Feb. 18, the release states.
Prior to leading Hollywood, Hewett worked as assistant city manager of Fayetteville, N.C., from April 2007 to January 2012. Iman notes he worked with Hewett during his tenure in Fayetteville. Hewett also serves as the director of management services in the same city from May 2004 to April 2007; as assistant to the city manager and public information officer for Wilmington, N.C., from September 1999 to April 2004; and the public information officer for Halifax County, N.C., from December 1996 to September 1999.
Hewett's role in Winchester will include coordinating legislative affairs that may affect the city; manage the appointment process to boards and commissions; and executing customer service projects.
Hewett holds a bachelor's in political science and a master's in public administration from the University of North Carolina. Hewett also completed the Public Executive Leadership Academy from the University of North Carolina and the John F. Kennedy School of Government's Executive Education Fellowship through Harvard University.
