Woodstock police make arrest in restaurant robbery

Woodstock police arrested and charged a man Friday who they believe robbed the China Wok restaurant on Jan. 6.

Christopher M. Golladay, 32, of 17023 Old Valley Pike, Edinburg, is charged with armed robbery, attempted malicious wounding and destruction of property.

Authorities say Golladay confronted the China Wok owner with two knives as he was emptying trash at the back of the building at 1019 S. Main St. at about 7:50 p.m.

He forced the owner back into the restaurant and demanded money from the cash register, according to police. Police said the owner threw a glass jar filled with coins at his assailant and struck him in the head.

Police said the robber fled on foot. They said they arrested Golladay at his home after finding him hiding in an adjacent barn. State police and the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office helped in the arrest.

Golladay is being held without bail pending an arraignment in Shenandoah County General District Court on Monday, police said.
