Daily staff report
Front Royal police arrested a 34-year-old man Monday afternoon at 219 Cloud St. after a confrontation in which police say he swung two knives in a threatening manner.
Chief Norman A. Shiflett said Shane E. Bowling of 2265 Wilson Blvd., Winchester, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice after police brought him to the ground with a Taser discharge.
Shiflett said Bowling, who also faces pending charges in Winchester for violation of a protective order, was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital with self-inflicted injuries to his arm.
Bowling refused medical attention at the hospital, according to Shiflett. Police then took Bowling to Warren County Jail for a mental health evaluation, Shiflett said.
Shiflett said the confrontation began at about 1 p.m. when Bowling made a 911 call to the Warren County Sheriff's Office and stated he had slit his wrist and had a handgun with him.
