Friday morning crash sends one to WMC

Daily staff report

FRONT ROYAL - A single-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Warren County sent the driver to a local hospital.

State police and emergency crews responded to a crash at approximately 4:20 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 66 near the 5 mile marker, Sgt. F.L. "Les" Tyler, a spokesman for the Virginia State Police, said Friday afternoon.

A woman was flown from the scene by rescue helicopter to Winchester Medical Center. Tyler said he did not have confirmation of the woman's identity. Trooper R.M. Weiss also sought charges against the driver, but Tyler said he did not know what the charges are.

Tyler, citing police information, said it appeared the 2004 Lexus, 4-door, ran off the highway to the right. Other information about the crash was not available.
