Front Royal man arrested after shots fired in domestic dispute
Daily staff report
Front Royal police arrested a local man Thursday after a domestic disturbance in which several shots were fired at a residence at 412 Pence St.
Chief Norman A. Shiflett said Ronald Eugene Walters, 32, of 252 Orchard St., was charged with writing a threat to kill or do bodily injury, vandalism and driving with a suspended license.
Shiflett said police were called to the Pence Street address in response to a report of shots fired. Their investigation determined Walters and his estranged wife had been involved in a domestic disturbance at the residence and that Walters had struck the residence with his truck, according to Shiflett.
Police also concluded shots had been fired during the disturbance, Shiflett said. Walters sped off from the crime scene, but officers later found his unoccupied truck in the area of Grand Avenue, Shiflett said.
Shiflett added that the possibility of other charges is under review by the Commonwealth's Attorney office.
Deputy Josh Nolan of the Warren County Sheriff's Office and a trained dog were able to track Walters from the scene to his residence at 252 Orchard St., Shiflett said.
Shiflett said Walters is being held on a $10,000 bond in the Warren County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on April 25 on threat to kill or do bodily injury. Other charges are scheduled for a hearing in General District Court on May 7.
