Linden cabin destroyed after controlled burn gets out of hand

Fire destroyed a cabin at 50 Dogpatch Lane in Linden late Wednesday night.

Warren County Fire and Rescue Chief Richard E. Mabie said firefighters who were just returning from a fire at Front Royal's E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School answered a report of the cabin burning at about 11:09 p.m. They arrived to find the cabin, several out buildings and about an acre of woods on fire, he said.

Mabie said a controlled burn that had became unmanageable and spread to the house caused the fire. He estimated the damage at $20,000.

Mabie said the A-framed cabin was a total loss.
