Molester of two girls gets 15-year prison sentence

FRONT ROYAL - A Front Royal man headed off to prison for 15 years Monday for molesting two girls.

Timothy Michael Rumage, 28, of 313 Polk Ave., showed little emotion during the hearing in Warren County Circuit Court, except for covering his eyes with one hand for a few seconds.

Judge Dennis L. Hupp imposed the sentence and then denounced Rumage's actions.

"It's just absolutely disgusting and despicable," Hupp said in referring to Rumage's crimes, which included two counts of forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child.

The prison sentence on the forcible sodomy counts included a much longer total of 90 years, most of which Hupp suspended.

Rumage will be on supervised probation for five years after his release from prison and then unsupervised probation for the rest of his life.

"I'm going to place a special (probation) condition that you not view or possess pornography," Hupp told Rumage.

Front Royal police arrested Rumage on May 19 after the Warren County Department of Social Services reported a case of child sexual abuse. The victims were two girls, one 9-years old and the other of undetermined age.

Detective Jason Winner interviewed the girls after taking the social service report and then interviewed Rumage, who confessed to the crimes.

The 9-year-old girl told Winner that Rumage had been molesting her for four months.
