The following public meetings are scheduled this week:
The Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Peter Muhlenberg Middle School, 1251 Susan Ave., Woodstock. The board plans to hold a public hearing on:
- The proposed, fiscal 2014 budget and tax rates
- Proposed user rates and fee increases for sewer and water customers in the Stoney Creek Sanitary District; and user fee increases for customers in the Toms Brook-Maurertown Sanitary District
- An ordinance to set fees charged by the animal shelter

Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Arthur L. Hildreth Jr. Municipal Building. After hearing reports from committees, council plans to consider a resolution to adopt the 2012 Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Council then plans to meet in closed session to consult with legal counsel regarding the acquisition of real property for a utility easement.
Town Council holds a work session at 7 p.m. Monday. Council plans to hold a public hearing on the town's application for urgent need funding through the federal Community Development Block Grant program to help cover the costs associated with repairs from two major storms last year. Council then will hear an update from staff on the wastewater treatment plant upgrade project related to a proposal submitted through the Public-Private Educational Facilities and Infrastructure Act. Council will hear an update on the conservation of Island Farm and then discuss the town's role in the project. Council also plans to continue its discussion of the proposed fiscal 2014 budget.
The Town Council Finance Committee meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the draft of the proposed fiscal 2014 budget.
The Personnel Committee of the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail Authority Board meets at 9 a.m. Monday to conduct the first round of interviews for the superintendent position. The meeting takes place in the Warren County Public Safety Building, 200 Skyline Vista Drive.
The Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the county government center. Supervisors plan to consider a change to the county code to allow for the removal and disposition of any motor vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer parked illegally in violation of posted signs on a public highway or other public property. Supervisors also plan to take action on the proposed fiscal 2014 budget and tax rates. The board will begin public hearings at 7:30 p.m. on:
- A proposed ordinance to amend the county code to increase the fee charged to anyone who uses the Septage Receiving Facility at the Front Royal Wastewater Treatment Plant
- A request to amend the county code pertaining to wells and septic systems to increase the setback requirement for a well to a building sewer from 20 feet to 50 feet and to increase the setback for a well to a conveyance line from 20 feet to 50 feet
- A request by Elizabeth and Scott Jenkins to amend the county code to add a definition for "hiker hostel," to include such operation as one allowed on agriculturally zoned property with a conditional-use permit and to include hiker hostels in the section on supplementary regulations
- A request by the Jenkins for a conditional-use permit to operate a hiker hostel on agriculturally zoned property at 3471 Remount Road
The Front Royal Golf Club Advisory Committee meets at 10 a.m. at the Front Royal Golf Club.
The Local Emergency Planning Committee meets at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Emergency Operations Center of the Warren County Public Safety Building.
Town Council holds a work session at 6 p.m. Monday in the administration building conference room, 102 E. Main St. Council meets an hour earlier than normal in order to conduct interviews with candidates they may recommend to a Warren County Circuit Court judge for appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Following the interviews, council plans to discuss rezoning and special-use permit applications filed by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars. Council also plans to discuss amending the town code pertaining to enterprise fund rates for water, sewer and trash collection. Council will receive an overview by each department of the proposed fiscal 2014 budget. Members plan to go into closed session at the end of the work session to discuss acquisition of property and to consult with the town attorney regarding annexation.
The Front Royal Planning Commission holds a public input meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Warren County Government Center boardroom. The commission will take comments from the public concerning the Front Royal Limited Partnership request to annex approximately 604 acres of county land into the town limits. The property lies adjacent to, and northeast of the town boundary on Mary's Shady Lane, east of the Shenandoah River, south of Interstate 66 and west of Shenandoah Shores Road. The public may also comment on the associated development proposal copies of which are available for viewing during normal business hours in the town Planning and Zoning Department offices at 102 E. The Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association meets at 7 p.m. Monday.
The Social Services Board meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The Handley Regional Library Board meets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Frederick County Sanitation Authority meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Frederick County School Board holds a work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by its regular meeting at 7 p.m.
The Board of Supervisors Finance Committee meets at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The Metropolitan Planning Organization Board meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
