Law enforcement officials reported Friday they seized heroin with a street value of $11,000 from a guest's motel room in Front Royal after arresting a Philadelphia man during a traffic stop.
A news release from Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron said the suspect, Kareem Strong, 21, was a passenger in a car driven by a Christopher Berry, 18, of 43 Bentonville Road, Bentonville. Deputies stopped a Cadillac driven by Berry around 1:30 p.m., McEathron said.
McEathron said Berry was ticketed for driving on a suspended license. During the traffic stop, authorities obtained consent from Berry and Strong to search the Cadillac, according to the news release.
McEathron said Strong admitted to deputies during the search that he was carrying Percocet in his front pocket. The deputies found the Percocet on Strong and arrested him for possession of a schedule II narcotic, McEathron said.
McEathron said Strong also misidentified himself to deputies during the arrest. His actual identity was later confirmed at the Warren County Jail, where authorities discovered 39 bags of heroin in his possession, according to the news release. They also found he was wanted in Philadelphia for possession of cocaine, McEathron said.
Law enforcement officials discovered 238 bags of heroin, $900 cash and "several other items of interest" upon searching Strong's motel room, according to the news release.
Strong is being held without bond in jail on charges of drug possession and giving a fake identification to police.
