Dispute brings malicious wounding charge

By Joe Beck

An 18-year-old Front Royal man was airlifted to Winchester Medical Center on Monday for treatment of multiple wounds suffered in a stabbing, police reported.

The victim, Travon Richardson, was listed in stable condition as of Wednesday morning, according to a news release issued by Chief Norman Shiflett.

Police said Justize Silver, 18, was charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond in the Warren County Jail after they identified her as the assailant.

Detective Sgt. Jason Ryman said the stabbing in the 300 block of Osage Street appeared to stem from a domestic dispute.

"They were in some type of relationship with each other," Ryman said. "It was a domestic situation that turned violent."

Detective Jason Winner said Silver lives at the residence where police investigated the stabbing. He described Richardson as "a frequent guest" at her apartment.

Police said officers were called to the scene at 1:13 p.m. and arrived to find Richardson conscious and being treated by a bystander.

Winner said some of Richardson's wounds appeared superficial, but "at least one was a deep threatening injury to the torso."

"They weren't life threatening," Ryman said of Richardson's injuries. "The one was serious because of where it was, in his chest. It was serious enough to merit medical care, but it wasn't immediately life threatening.

Police said more charges may be filed as the investigation continues. Winner said witnesses at the scene had "slightly different" versions of what led up to the stabbing.

"There was evidence collected at the scene and some of that will be sent to the state lab for analysis," Winner said. "Based on that analysis, there may be further charges."

Shiflett asked anyone with further information about the stabbing to call Winner at 636-2208.
