Police accuse wife of stabbing estranged husband

Strasburg police arrested a local woman Saturday night after a fight that sent her estranged husband to Winchester Medical Center with a stab wound.

Authorities accuse Julia Minor, 58, of 587 King St., of stabbing Rickey Minor, 52, of
Front Royal, in the stomach. She was charged with felonious assault and remains held without bond in the Shenandoah County Jail.

Strasburg Maj. Jerome Robinson said police were called to the King Street residence at 11:30 a.m.

“The call came in about a fight or assault on the porch observed by neighbors,” Robinson said.

Robinson said Rickey Minor was taken to Winchester Medical Center where he was kept overnight and released.

“Basically, they were arguing during the day,” Robinson said of the couple. “He left and when he returned, her statement is he knocked on the door, and when he opened the door, he punched her in the nose, and she in return stabbed him.”

Robinson said officers found Julia Minor at the scene with wounds to the face, including a bloody nose. She refused treatment from paramedics, he said.

Robinson said the case remains under investigation, and officers are trying through witnesses to confirm “who belted whom first.”

He said anyone with additional information about the case should contact investigator Larry Crum at 465-5230.

Julia Minor is scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County General District Court at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
