Public meetings

The following public meetings are scheduled this week:

Shenandoah County

The Tourism Council meets at noon Tuesday at the Woodstock Café.


The Architectural Review Board meets at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Town Council Streets Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to hear a request for the abandonment of a portion of West Hughes Street.

The Town Council Tourism and Economic Development Committee meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday to discuss graphics for the West North Street water tank.

Warren County
The Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The board plans to hold public hearings beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the following:

  • A proposed Shenandoah Farms Sanitary District Capital Improvement Plan
  • An ordinance to readopt Virginia Motor Vehicle Traffic Laws for violations within the county
  • An ordinance to raise the annual dog license taxes from $8 to $10 for male and female canines, and from $5 to $7 for neutered or spayed dogs
  • An ordinance to raise the annual motor vehicle license taxes from $25 to $30, motorcycle and scooter license taxes from $10 to $15, and trailer and semitrailer license taxes from $10 to $15
  • An ordinance to raise annual business, professional and occupational license taxes (BPOL) for personal service occupations from 25 cents to 27 cents per $100 of gross receipts; from 11 cents to 13 cents per $100 for contractors; from 39 cents to 41 cents per $100 for financial, professional or real estate services; from 14 cents to 16 cents per $100 for retail merchants; and from 3 cents to 5 cents per $100 for wholesale merchants
  • An ordinance to add definitions and standards, and to require permits for development within floodplain districts; to provide factors and conditions for variances to the terms of the ordinance; to provide definitions and standards for development within dam break inundation zones; and to conform to requirements for federal flood insurance
  • A request to amend the county code to add a definition of, and regulations for the subdivision of land within a dam break inundation zone; and to add regulations for the development of three or more residential dwelling united in a dam break inundation zone
  • Supervisors plan to go into closed session to discuss personnel matters pertaining to the Front Royal Golf Club house manager positions, appointments to committees, acquisition of real property for the middle school site, legal matters regarding the Shenandoah Farms Volunteer Fire Department and the U.S. 340-522 North Corridor.
  • The Development Review Committee meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

    The Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail Authority board transition committee meets at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The full board meeting follows at 2 p.m.

    The Front Royal-Warren County Anti Litter Council meets at 4 p.m. Thursday.

    Frederick County

    The Social Services Board meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

    The Board of Zoning Appeals meets at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday.

    The Handley Regional Library Board meets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

    The Frederick County Sanitation Authority meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

    The Historic Resources Advisory Board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

    The Frederick County School Board meets 7 p.m. Tuesday.

    The Board of Supervisors meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

    The Conservation Easement Authority meets at 8 a.m. Thursday.

    Town Council committees meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
