Ticket system hacked

Daily staff report

Winchester Little Theatre announced this week that the company contracted to handle ticket sales reported its system compromised by a criminal hacker.

Verdini Inc. detected an unauthorized intrusion into its systems on April 25. Vendini provides box office and online ticketing services to hundreds of entertainment venues, including tour, casino, sports and arts organizations in the U.S. and Canada, an email from the company states.

As part of the email sent to the theater, Mark Tacchi, president and CEO of Vendini Inc., wrote, "We are actively cooperating with federal law enforcement, and this notification to you was delayed specifically to support law enforcement's investigation."

The email continued, "Although our internal investigation is ongoing, we believe that in late March, a third-party criminal actor used hacking technologies to access our databases and may have accessed your personal information, such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and credit card numbers and expiration dates."

The theater forwarded the email from Vendini to those who have done business with the theater, and Henry Tickner, president of Winchester Little Theatre Inc., wrote in a press release this week, "It is important to know that WLT itself does not maintain electronic credit card transactions. The privacy of our patrons is and always will be a paramount concern."

For more information, call Vendini at 800-836-0473 or visit www.vendini.com/info. Winchester Little Theatre can be contacted at wlt@wltonline.org.
