Winchester celebrates pedestrian mall renovation

The Old Town Development Board and the City of Winchester are celebrating the completion of the Loudoun Street Mall renovation project.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday, and among activities planned Saturday in Old Towne Winchester include a free ice cream social at noon, music and family activities from noon to 4 p.m. in front of the Old Civil War Courthouse, and historical/architectural tours at noon and 1 p.m.

The renovation project included construction of a splash pad water fountain, a public restroom, three gateways, new landscaping, replacement of water and sewer pipes, upgrading the storm water system and replacing the brick walkway and electrical system.
