Daily staff report

Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating the suspicious death of a woman at a home located south of Edinburg.

Sheriff Timothy C. Carter said that a 911 call came in at 9:32 a.m. Sunday from a church member who had stopped by to check on a woman at a home at 14887 Old Valley Pike.

"This individual saw that the condition of the house looked suspicious and they called 911, and we responded," Carter said. "The incident is a suspicious death at this point and we're processing the scene at the residence."

Carter said the victim is a 65-year-old woman, but he did not release her name or possible cause of death.

"We are waiting on notification of next of kin," he said.
