Front Royal man jailed for contempt of court

Daily staff report

Warren County deputies pepper sprayed a Front Royal man outside the courthouse Wednesday after he was found in contempt of court and defied an order to report to the jail, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Judge Ronald Napier issued the contempt of court order against William Tyler Taylor, 28, after Taylor became "very disruptive" during a hearing in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, the news release said.

The news release, issued by Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron, said Taylor continued to disrupt the courtroom after Napier warned him to calm down or be charged with contempt of court. Napier then found him in contempt and ordered him to jail.

McEathron said bailiffs told Taylor he was under arrest but he ignored them and walked out of the courtroom and left the courthouse. McEathron stated that deputies told him again he was under arrest, but he refused to obey their instructions. The deputies attempted to place Taylor in handcuffs but he continued to resist, according to the news release.

Deputies used the pepper spray to bring Taylor under control after he continued resisting them, McEathron said.

Taylor was taken to the Warren County jail where he is a serving a 35-day sentence imposed by Napier.
