Cracker Barrel manager robbed
By Joe Beck
FRONT ROYAL — Crime scene tape went up Monday morning at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant after an unknown assailant used an electronic stun device to rob a store manager in the parking lot.
Authorities were still searching for the suspect Monday evening. Warren County Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron said the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot across both lanes of U.S. 522 north of Interstate 66 toward the Target department store across the road from the Cracker Barrel at 15 Riverton Commons Place.
McEathron said no injuries to the store manager were reported in the incident.
The suspect is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thick build. He was reported wearing all black clothing with a white bandanna over his face.
McEathron said the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store manager, who was on his way to make a bank deposit around 10:30 a.m.
McEathron said the suspect gained control of the cash by assaulting the manager with the stun device.
“It wasn’t a Taser, where it shoots a projectile,” McEathron said of the stun device. “It was a device where you make contact with the person.”
McEathron said tracking dogs from the Front Royal Police Department and Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office were deployed during the search for the suspect.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 635-7100.
