Strasburg resident wins $100,000

Casey Orndorff of Strasburg is the winner of a $100,000 Virginia Lottery ticket, according to a news release from the Virginia Lottery Commission.

Orndorff, who works as a bartender, had stopped at Bo's Belly Barn in Edinburg for gas. While there, she purchased a Jewel 7's scratcher.

The release states that she scratched half of the ticket at the store, and the other half when she arrived home. When she realized she had won, she called her mother.

"She told me to shut up," Orndorff is quoted in the news release.

Orndorff is the 12th player to claim the $100,000 prize in game #1328, which means four top-prize tickets in that game are still unclaimed.

The Virginia Lottery generates more than $1.3 million each day for Virginia's K-12 public schools and generated more than $487.1 million for Virginia public schools in the 2012 fiscal year.
