Ten arrested in motel drug raid

Front Royal police and law enforcement officers from two other agencies jailed eight adults and two juveniles, all town residents, Friday night on suspicion of drug trafficking and related offenses.

In a news release issued Monday, Chief Norman Shiflett reported the arrests came at 9:45 p.m. during a raid on the Quality Inn Motel at 10 S. Commerce Ave. in Front Royal.

The suspects were charged with various drug offenses, mostly involving manufacturing and distribution.

The adults arrested are: Davonte Laquan Starks, 22; Adrian Darnell Edwards, 19; Tabitha Kay Poundstone, 21; Tiara Lachay Bailey, 19; Jessica Nicole Wayland, 21; Jade Chelsea Wines, 21; Christopher Donte Foreman, 19; and Bruce Garrett Pilgrim, 20. The juveniles, a girl and boy, were listed as 16 and 17.

Police executed two search warrants in two motel rooms where they found heroin, crack and marijuana and $7,000 cash, according to the news release.

Shiflett said police tried to use a battering ram to open a door, but were unable to break it down and instead broke out a motel window to gain entrance.

Sgt. Kevin Coffman, a member of the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force, said all of the suspects were located in two rooms. All of suspects knew each other, he said.

Shiflett said the raid followed an investigation by the drug task force.

“The task force has a lot of informants it’s working with right now, and they’re giving them a lot of good information,” Shiflett said.

Coffman said the four adult males were still being held in jail Monday evening but the women had posted bond.
