Woman sustains burns during Woodstock fire

A woman was burned during a fire Tuesday that damaged an apartment at 121 E. Foundry St. in Woodstock, according to Shenandoah County Fire Chief Gary Yew.

Yew said the woman sustained burns and respiratory problems and is undergoing treatment at a burn center in Washington, D.C. Her name was not released.

The fire started around 4:40 p.m., Yew said, and was confined to the apartment’s living room. He said there is smoke damage to the building’s second floor.

Yew said response by the Woodstock Police Department was immediate.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
