The Warren County General Registrar plans to hold an in-person training session next week for groups and individuals who intend to run voter registration drives.
Individuals or groups who obtain 25 or more voter-registration applications from the Virginia State Board of Elections or the local registrar must receive training to conduct registration drives, according to a recently enacted law.
Warren County will offer the session at the government center, 220 N. Commerce Ave., Front Royal, at 10:30 a.m. July 15. Contact the registrar's office at 635-4327 or at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about this session or other training opportunities.
Shenandoah County's registration office has not yet scheduled in-person training sessions.
The state should make online training available in the coming weeks. The agency plans to host in-person sessions and individuals interested may contact Garry Ellis at Garry.Ellis@sbe.virginia.gov for more information.
The training mandated by the legislation covers topics for completion of the application, maintaining the integrity of the registration process, prohibited activities, important deadlines for submission of completed forms and laws protecting the privacy of applicants.
