Dr. Miles K. Davis, the George Edward Durell chair of management and dean of the Harry F. Byrd Jr. School of Business at Shenandoah University, has been appointed as a director of First National Corporation and First Bank. Davis joins a board of eight local business leaders.
The Southerlands retirement community, 600 Mt. View St., Front Royal, will host a free luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 4. Guest speaker Patrick Nolan, president of the Warren Memorial Hospital, will talk about utilizing the hospital's services to help the community's seniors. Strasburg resident Robyn Bonilla has joined Tastefully Simple Inc. as an independent consultant. The national company sells easy-to-prepare meals through its consultants.
The Winchester Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals received a deed to a property valued at $8,500 as a gift from City National Bank. The property is described as lot 107, plat 5, section 23 of the Shawneeland subdivision in Frederick County and is a quarter-acre single family home building lot located on Bow Wood Trail. It is a gift to the SPCA's Capital Campaign for an Animal Adoption and Humane Education Center. Anyone interested in purchasing the property is invited to contact the SPCA at 540-662-8616.
