Front Royal police joining anti-drunk driving campaign

Daily staff report

The Front Royal police will be on the lookout for drunk drivers through Labor Day weekend as they participate in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

Chief Norman Shiflett said in a news release the department is planning to deploy extra patrol officers and set up sobriety checkpoints at different times and places.

The purpose of this campaign is to make motorists aware that driving impaired is a crime that we take very seriously,” Shiflett said. “Our department has taken a zero tolerance stance against impaired driving, and if a driver is found under the influence of alcohol and legally impaired, they will be arrested.”
