Middletown council fills two empty seats
Daily staff report
The Middletown Town Council appointed two new council members at a meeting on Monday night, filling its previously vacant seats.
Jeff Pennington and George “Jay” Smith were chosen to fill the two spots among four total candidates and will be sworn in this week. They will serve until an election in November.
The vacancies were left by Clarence C. “Trip” Chewning III, who resigned at the end of June for personal health reasons, and Donna M.G. Gray, who said personal agendas forced her resignation in July.
Mayor Charles H. Harbaugh IV said Tuesday that it brings the council “back to full strength.”
