Jack Evans dealership updates its look

FRONT ROYAL — For the first time since 1998, the blue and silver building at Jack Evans Chevrolet is newer than the cars inside it.

The Front Royal dealership unveiled its completed renovations at its annual classic car show on Friday. Dealer Principal John Evans said the project started in February to coincide with the latest initiatives by General Motors and cost about $600,000, part of which was funded by GM.

The update includes a lighting package with a price tag of $60,000. Unlike the fluorescent tubes used at the dealership before, the installed LED lights are specifically designed for dealerships and are meant to bring out the best in cars.

“There was plenty of light in here,” he said. “But it didn’t do the cars justice. This really makes them pop.”

A set of 2014 Chevys, fresh from the factory floor, reflect their metallic paint jobs. Nearby, Evans points out the newly added 50-inch plasma television and Keurig coffee maker in the customer lounge.

“It gives all of the employees a lift,” Evans said. “It really does. Everything is new and clean.”

Since selling its first Chevy in August 1975, the dealership has gone through one remodeling in 1998. The same architect who remodeled it then, Dwight Matthews of Flint Hill, was picked to give the dealership its latest face-lift.

“We hope our customers feel we have succeeded in carrying out our mission,” Evans said. “And that is to be the preferred place to buy a car and have it serviced.”

The remodel also included an updated façade and new wallpaper, signage, tile and service equipment.
