Four face charges in meth bust
By Joe Beck
Shenandoah County authorities arrested three men and a juvenile in New Market on Sunday evening and charged them with offenses stemming from the operation of a methamphetamine laboratory.
Capt. Wesley Dellinger of the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office identified three of defendants as Michael Scott McDaniel, 23, of 400 Lone Pine Drive, Timberville; Joshua Charles Stottlemyer, 23, of 726 Walker Road, Mount Jackson; and Kenneth Charles Ritchie, 11329 Turleytown Road, Linville.
All three were charged with one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
Dellinger said Tuesday that all three appeared in court Monday and were being held without bail in the Shenandoah County jail.
The fourth defendant is a 17-year-old juvenile who is also facing charges in juvenile and domestic relations court of manufacturing methamphetamine and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
Dellinger said members of the Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant around 5:30 p.m. at 9457 S. Congress St. in New Market that led to arrests at the site.
"A concerned citizen contacted the agency about odors coming from the residence," Dellinger said. "We were able to get enough information to obtain a warrant."
A search of the second floor found "multiple items indicative of a methamphetamine laboratory," Dellinger said.
Dellinger said he had no information on the exact amount of methamphetamine seized at the apartment.
Dellinger said the New Market Fire Department stood by as investigators searched the apartment. The New Market police also assisted in the search, he said.
