Thunderstorms, chance of hail possible today

Area residents might want to pack an umbrella; the weather is expected to turn ugly later today.

The Weather Channel predicts thunderstorms starting at 6 p.m., continuing to batter the area with rain and lightning until midnight. The website lists today's chance of precipitation at 80 percent.

The National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook for today in the areas of Shenandoah, Frederick and Warren counties. The outlook states that the thunderstorms may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail this afternoon and evening.
