Man with shotgun taken into custody
Daily Staff Report
Deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office took an unidentified Front Royal man into custody on Sunday, according to a release sent out Monday by Sheriff Daniel McEathron.
The release states that deputies received a call from a residence on T-Bird Drive in Front Royal about a man who had left the house with a shotgun.
While speaking to the man’s spouse and learning that the man entered woods near the home, deputies heard a gunshot.
The Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team and Crisis Negotiations Team secured the residence and began to coordinate a search of the area while a helicopter from the Virginia State Police was used.
The search ended when the man approached a deputy with the shotgun disassembled and his arms raised, the release states. The man was then taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital for an evaluation before being transported to a mental health facility for treatment.
