Walt Morgan, financial associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, will host a Social Security Educational Workshop on 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hampton Inn Conference Room located at 1150 Motel Drive in Woodstock. The workshop will include a keynote presentation by Jim Caulder, who has been employed with the Social Security Administration for more than 33 years and is recognized as a technical expert on Social Security and Medicare entitlement programs. The workshop is open to the public, but seating is limited. Dinner will be served at the event. Reservations are required by Monday. A follow-up meeting to begin planning action steps to address homelessness in Shenandoah County is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's UCC Church on the corner of Main and Spring streets in Woodstock. A representative of the Family Promise program will be present to help. This is an interdenominational effort and all are welcome to come and participate. For more information, call 540-459-3661.

Daryl Stout, sales associate at Weichert, Realtors' Front Royal office, has been recognized for her "exceptional industry success during the month of October" and led the entire company for new home listings as a top producer.

DuPont Community Credit Union was recently recognized with three awards for service to the local community from the Virginia Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association. The credit union ranked first in the state with a Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Award for its partnership with the United Way and won a first place Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award and a second place Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award.
