Juvenile, victim, charged in violent home invasion

By Joe Beck

A juvenile has been charged for offenses stemming from a Front Royal home invasion in the late night and early morning hours of Oct. 17 and 18 that left the victim with head wounds requiring hospitalization.

Warren County Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron said in a news release that the juvenile was charged on Wednesday with burglary, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The juvenile was being held in the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center after he was charged, McEathron said.

McEathron also disclosed that the victim in the case, Zachary James Dimmette, 20, was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana Wednesday after he turned himself in at the sheriff's office Wednesday.

McEathron said the charges against Dimmette are linked to the home invasion at 58 Ace Court.

Dimmette was released on $2,000 unsecured bond and scheduled for an appearance in General District Court at 10 a.m. Nov. 20, McEathron said.

A criminal complaint filed by Investigator William A. Smoot of the sheriff's office states that Dimmette called the Sheriff's Office to report two males had broken into his residence and attacked him.

Other court documents identify one of the two alleged assailants as Gustavo Emmanuel Correa and accuse him of attacking Dimmette with a tire iron in a dispute over the selling of marijuana. Correa has been charged with malicious wounding and other offenses related to the attack.

Dimmette admitted the assault arose from single sales of marijuana to the juvenile and a Hispanic male, according to the criminal complaint.

"Both of these transactions took place during the incident at (Dimmette's) residence on Oct. 17 and the early morning hours of Oct. 18," Smoot wrote.
