Daily Staff Report
Rain throughout the day has washed out some area holiday celebrations today. So far Woodstock and Berryville have announced cancellations for tonight, and Harrisonburg plans to march on unless the rain gets worse.
The Light up Woodstock Celebration and Parade scheduled for tonight has been canceled due to inclement weather, but the lights will still shine, according to an emailed notice from the Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce.
The tree lighting ceremony, sponsored by The Woodstock Enhancement Committee, will take place at 6:45 p.m. on Court Square, when Mayor Jeremy McCleary and special guest Kensley Dalton flip the switch to light up Woodstock in spite of the weather. A notice on the Town of Berryville's website has announced the cancellation of tonight's tree lighting ceremony. The parade on Main Street at noon Saturday is still planned. For information or updates, call 540-955-1099 or visit www.berryville.gov.
In Harrisonburg, the holiday parade will march on, unless "the rain is a total downpour," the town's website states. In the case of a downpour, the parade will be postponed. For more information, call 540-433-9168 or visit www.harrisonburgva.gov/holiday-parade.
