Student earns perfect score on SAT section

Daily Staff Report

A student at Strasburg High School has earned a perfect score on the Critical Reading Section of the SAT.

Strasburg senior and Fort Valley resident Eric Steiner earned an 800 on the Critical Reading section of the test and had "solid scores on both the Math and Writing sections of the SAT," according to a release sent by the Shenandoah County Public School division on Monday.

The release states that Steiner is among 0.67 percent of 1,660,047 students who took the test this year to receive an 800.

Steiner plans to major in computer science and has applied to George Mason University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon University, the release states.

Currently, he's taking government and English classes that are dual-enrolled with Lord Fairfax Community College as well as a post-secondary calculus course at the college.

Steiner said he plans to retake the SAT in the spring and hopes to improve his score on the math section, states the release.
