Wolf gets another Democratic challenger in the 10th
By Joe Beck
Fairfax County Supervisor John W. Foust filed paperwork this week launching a campaign to unseat U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Vienna, in the 10th Congressional District.
"He hasn't provided the leadership we need," Foust said of Wolf in an interview Wednesday. "He's been there 32 years. "There's nothing to suggest he's going to provide that leadership if we give him another two years."
Wolf declined to comment.
Foust joins Fairfax lawyer Richard Bolger and Leesburg architect Sam Kubba as the third Democrat to seek his party's nomination for Congress. The 10th district runs from West Virginia eastward through the Winchester area and parts of Loudon, Fairfax and Prince William counties.
Foust, 62, was raised in Johnstown, Pa., according to his Fairfax County supervisor Web page. He moved to Northern Virginia in 1981 and McLean in 1987 where he continues to reside.
Foust majored in economics while earning a degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He later obtained a master's degree in business administration from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies and a law degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
He practiced construction law in Northern Virginia from 1981 until his election to the board of supervisors in 2007 where he represents McLean, Great Falls, Herndon and parts of Vienna and Falls Church.
The 10th District was closely contested in this year's gubernatorial election and the 2012 presidential election as Republicans Kenneth Cuccinelli and Mitt Romney eked out wins over Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe and President Obama.
Congressional races have been a far different story. Wolf has cruised to one-sided wins over each of his Democratic opponents in the last four elections.
