Denman Zirkle, executive director of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation, has announced that he will leave his position by April 1 to focus on battlefield restoration, interpretation and development of community programs on the Third Winchester battlefield. Zirkle, who joined the SVBF in 2009, has protected nearly 2,000 acres of battlefield land, established the foundation's first headquarters and expanded its education programs and restoration projects during his tenure.

Beverly Polk, school food services supervisor for Shenandoah County Public Schools, has been elected as the District 2 Regional Director of the School Nutrition Association of Virginia. Polk, who starts her duties Aug. 1, will represent Shenandoah, Rockingham and Augusta counties and Harrisonburg, Staunton and Charlottesville as one of eight regional directors.

Route 11 Potato Chips is one of 16 Virginia's Finest specialty food companies that will exhibit at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco from Jan. 19-21. The Mount Jackson chips maker will present to more than 18,000 buyers from retailers such as Whole Foods, Costco, Walmart, The Fresh Market and Restaurant Associates.

Nathan H. Miller, managing partner at the law firm of Miller, Earle & Shanks, has been named a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation. The Fellows program was created in 1983 to recognize excellence in law and public service and is limited to one percent of active and associate membership of the Virginia State Bar. Miller serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees at Bridgewater College and a Board of Trustees member of the Rockingham Historical Society and counts business law, municipal law, estate planning and real estate among his areas of practice.

Darcus Ellen Breneman, a private adviser regional director in Winchester, has been promoted to senior vice president at BB&T Wealth. Breneman graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a concentration in management.

Skyline Team Real Estate has named Barbara Bailey as top listing agent, Nathan Gochenour as top selling agent and Robin Gochenour as top producer for the month of December.

Winchester-based Golden Seal Enterprises has partnered with Penn State University's Eberly Campus, Center for Community and Public Safety, to provide continuing education units and broader course offerings to its students at its Aviation Drive training center. The Center for Community and Public Safety has developed comprehensive training curricula for CPR, First Aid, AED, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an EMS Training Institute.
