Wedding venue Cloverdale Barn has been named winner of the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award 2014 for Winchester. The award was chosen based on reviews from newlyweds and their experiences with the venue.

The Town of Front Royal is hosting a business forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, for business owners and operators to discuss issues related to conducting business in Front Royal with town staff. Topics include the town’s draft vision statement and the community development director position. Rappahannock Electric Cooperative has named Ricky Hairfield director of operation and construction for its Bowling Green district. Hairfield, who has served as general foreman at the cooperative for three years, will be responsible for management and activities in the warehouse, vehicle shop and line department.

ECS Mid-Atlantic LLC, a consulting firm specializing in geotechnical, environmental, construction materials and facilities engineering, has promoted John Kent to branch manager of its Winchester office. Kent has more than 30 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing. As branch manager, he will manage service line operations, provide principal-level technical review and oversight and lead business development efforts for the firm.

Winchester-based wood-alternative decking and railing manufacturer, Trex Company Inc., has announced that it will release its fourth-quarter 2013 results on Feb. 24. The company will hold its quarterly conference call at 10 a.m. that day. A live webcast of the conference call will be streamed in the Investor Relations section at trex.com.

Corn for grain yields in Virginia averaged 154 bushels per acre in 2013, up 51 bushels from 2012’s yield. A release from the United States Department of Agriculture states that estimated production increased by 54 percent and corn for grain harvested area increased by 10,000 acres. According to the USDA, barley yields in Shenandoah County also increased from 2012 to 2013.
