A single-vehicle crash Saturday resulted in the death of a Front Royal woman.

According to Sgt. F. L. Tyler of the Virginia State Police, the vehicle, a 2010 Ford F-350 truck, was traveling northbound on Browntown Road in Warren County at around 5:35 p.m.

Tyler said Monday that Brooke Nicole Spindle, 24, of Front Royal, was driving the vehicle, Jason Richard Louderback, 30, of Front Royal, sat in the front right passenger seat, and Holly Anne Smedley, 25, of Front Royal, sat in the right rear seat.

“The vehicle ran off the road to the right and into a ditch, struck several trees, and then overturned,” Tyler said.

Smedley was flown to Winchester Medical Center, where she died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash at 1 a.m. Sunday, Tyler continued.

Spindle and Louderback were taken to Warren Memorial Hospital. Later, Spindle was transferred to Winchester Medical Center.

Trooper T.L. Hilliker is investigating the incident. He was assisted at the scene by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue.

Authorities are still investigating any possible causes, but alcohol is believed to be a factor, Tyler said.
