WOODSTOCK -- A Shenandoah County circuit court grand jury Wednesday indicted a teen-ager on three felonies linked to a terrorist plot against Stonewall Jackson High School in Quicksburg.
Aaron Trump, 18, of Edinburg is charged with attempting to commit an act of terrorism, constructing an explosive device and communicating a bomb threat.
The bespectacled Trump appeared in court in jail uniform and was returned to the Shenandoah County jail at the end of the brief hearing.
Trump's attorney, Brandon Keller of Woodstock, told Judge Dennis L. Hupp he was hopeful of quickly reaching a plea agreement.
"I feel we are certainly close here to final resolution," Keller said.
In an interview after the hearing, Keller said he hoped the agreement could be reached by Feb. 5, the date of the next scheduled court hearing.
Trump was initially charged in domestic and juvenile relations court but the case was transferred to adult court since he turned 18.
Law enforcement officials say Trump plotted to commit an act of terrorism against the high school.
Trump was arrested in late September after law enforcement uncovered what they believed to be a terrorism plot they linked to Trump.
The arrest came after members of the Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police bomb squad and Frederick County Sheriff's Office Explosive Detection Dog Team executed search warrants at unspecified locations in the Maurertown and Edinburg areas.
