WINCHESTER — A search warrant filed in Winchester Circuit Court relates to a single-vehicle crash on Browntown Road on Saturday that resulted in the death of a Front Royal woman.

The documents reveal that authorities are seeking the DNA of Brooke Nicole Spindle, 24, of Front Royal, along with photographs of any injuries she received as a result of the crash.

According to Sgt. F.L. Tyler of the Virginia State Police, Spindle was driving the 2010 Ford truck when the incident occurred. Tyler said Jason Richard Louderback, 30, of Front Royal, was sitting in the right front passenger seat, and Holly Anne Smedley, 25, sat in the right rear passenger seat.

Smedley was transported to Winchester Medical Center, where she died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to Tyler.

The affidavit, written by Trooper Terry L. Hilliker, states that a witness observed a male, Louderback, walking around the front of the vehicle and a female, Spindle, lying on the ground on the driver’s side while Smedley remained inside the vehicle.

“The male [passenger] stated he had been driving recently, but stopped to urinate and the female [passenger] moved behind the steering [wheel] and was driving at the time of the accident,” the affidavit continues. “The female stated she did not remember anything about the accident.”

Tyler said Tuesday that the search warrant was filed as part of an ongoing investigation.
