A 75-year-old Edinburg woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Alum Springs Road in Shenandoah County Friday afternoon.

Joyce Elaine Miller was traveling northbound in a 2002 Kia SUV when her vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned, according to Sgt. F. L. (Les) Tyler of the Virginia State Police.

The crash took place a half-mile north of Crooked Run Road at around 4:10 p.m., Tyler said.

“She was the only person in the vehicle, and she was wearing her seatbelt,” he added.

Miller was transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, and then flown to Winchester Medical Center, where she passed away at 5:38 p.m.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
