Advance Auto Parts to open Feb. 21

The nation’s largest retailer of automotive replacement parts and accessories just grew one store larger.

Advance Auto Parts, located at 33558 Old Valley Pike in Strasburg, will open to the public on Feb. 21. It joins a group of stores in Woodstock, Stephens City, Front Royal and two locations in Winchester.

General Manager Phil Ashley said he unloaded the store’s last truck on Monday and needs some time to stock the store.

He said the new building, specifically designed to house the auto parts store, is about the same size as the other locations, but its layout allows for a larger inventory.

“Because of the ceilings not being dropped, our storage is a lot higher and we actually hold a lot more than I anticipated,” he said.

Ashley mentioned the company’s active support of the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, which is geared toward finding life-changing treatments and a cure for type one diabetes. According to the foundation’s website, Advance Auto Parts has raised more than $35 million to date for the cause.

A grand opening scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 1 will feature, weather permitting, a ribbon cutting ceremony with members of the Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce, food and a car show.

“We’re working as hard as we can, we’re excited to be in Strasburg and we just can’t wait until we open the doors,” said Ashley, who’s originally from Middletown.

The store will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Advance Auto Parts began with two locations in Roanoke, its current headquarters, and Lynchburg.
