The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities has named Tracy Fitzsimmons, president of Shenandoah University, as chairwoman of its board of directors for 2014-2015. As chairwoman, she will lead the board in setting an agenda on federal higher education policy and overseeing its financial administration. Fitzsimmons assumed the position on Wednesday.

Beth Waller, real estate agent at Weichert Realtors in Front Royal, has announced that she is adding three new agents to her sales team. Eric Reploeg, Jennifer Avery and Maggie LaBold have joined Team Waller Real Estate, which is located at 824 John Marshall Highway in Front Royal.

Residents have until March 1 to nominate or vote for Virginia's outstanding senior volunteer. Eligible nominees are 65 years old or older and give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service to their favorite causes. After being determined by a popular vote, state winners can choose a nonprofit organization, toward which Home Instead Inc. will donate $500. Nominations and votes can be submitted at SalturetoSeniorService.com.

Winchester-based FASTSIGNS has announced that its visual communications expert, Jessica Swiger, has completed an extensive three-day Sales Boot Camp training program at its Dallas corporate headquarters. Swiger was one of 19 sales professionals from locations across the U.S. who attended the training program.

Strasburg-based First Bank has announced that it has appointed Susan Ralls to vice president and commercial loan officer for its Front Royal Financial Center. Ralls, who previously served as vice president of United Bankshares, joined First Bank on Dec. 31.
