Fredericksburg man accused of seeking sexual activity with teen

FRONT ROYAL — A Warren County grand jury indicted a Fredericksburg man Monday after he was arrested on charges of using a computer to solicit sexual activity from a girl less than 15 and taking indecent liberties with her.

Ronald Lynn Whited Jr., 23, remained in jail without bond after his appearance before Circuit Judge Dennis L. Hupp.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested Whited in late April, about a week after he allegedly contacted a girl online and asked her to send a sexually explicit photo of herself.

In a criminal complaint, Investigator D.S. Simmons of the Sheriff’s Office reported obtaining a copy of Facebook messages between Whited and the victim, some of them sexual in nature.

Whited admitted that he had asked the girl to send him a sexually explicit photo of herself, according to Simmons.

“The accused also advised that he had exchanged messages with another minor and that he thought the minor was 16 years of age,” Simmons wrote.

Simmons contacted the second minor and learned that she had sent sexually explicit photos of herself after Jeffries had asked her to do so, according to the complaint.

“She confirmed that the accused was an acquaintance,” Simmons wrote.

The complaint also states that the second girl reported that Whited had sent her a picture of his male body parts.

Hupp scheduled Whited’s next court appearance for 2 p.m. March 3.
