Two people were charged after a domestic dispute Thursday in Strasburg.

According to Strasburg Police Department Deputy Chief Jerome Robinson, officers responded to the number 12 apartment of 227 South Charles St. in response to a domestic situation between a man and a woman at around 9 p.m. Thursday.

There, officers encountered Robert Williams Jr., 33, and Mary Highlander, 29.

“They encountered him outside, spoke with him, then encountered her inside the apartment and spoke with her,” Robinson said. “Alcohol was involved.”

There was a mutual battle, Robinson continued. A knife was involved, and Williams did have some knife wounds, but they were superficial lacerations, Robinson added.

Robinson said it is unclear which individual was responsible for the knife wounds.

“The case is still under investigation,” Robinson said.

Both Williams and Highlander were charged with domestic assault. Their court date is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 27.
